the big orange crush continues

this is the master bedroom of the 2007 san francisco decorator's showcase house, by kendall wilkinson. the color pallatte is inspired by the golden gate bridge and bay views to be seen out the large picture windows ~ oranges & teals. i *heart* the branches painted as the headboard for the bed! i am going to the house this weekend & will report back with my own views, but since the chronicle has a great article with photos already up i thought i'd borrow this one from them. plus, it just so happens to go with the orange kick i'm on this week. below is a collection of orangina-infused furnishings and appliances to brighten your day!

(1950's charm encases 21st-century technology: retro appliances from the big chill ~ and, yes, custom colors are available)

(you'll dig the colorful & vibrant root table by dransfield and ross ~ available in either orange or turquoise, it's made from a reclaimed tree root that's been sandblasted and lacquered )

(the variazioni storage system needs no translation ~ its design, by patrick norguet, speaks for itself. its two structural rods (offered in two heights) support between one and three reconfigurable mdf storage boxes in anthracite, white, and white/orange melamine. found at thonnet vienna)
(the xox coffee table at casamania is adorable & durable. i think it would look great in a kid's room! it comes in black, brown, white or orange, made of lacquered mdf, designed by josh owen)

(patricia urquiola's "maia" ensemble comprises three seating variations and two tables, all featuring powder-coated aluminum frames and a handwoven polypropylene weave in a dense chestnut brown. the optional mesh cushions—available in orange, white, or gray—are covered in an easy-to-maintain, weatherproof textile. found at kettal)

(artelano's siesta chair was designed by studio eoos ~ the contours with tangerine upholstery and chrome legs are so lovely)

(gaetano pesce's vivid la michetta seating collection by meritalia. pesce, who seems to be having a food moment, named the tufted-cotton pieces after milan's most common bread. (his "pesce for lunch" sculpture, made entirely of italian ingredients such as mozzarella, prosciutto, and polenta, occupied a corner of pier 92 at i saloni worldwide in new york in may '05.) the la michetta line above comes in six sizes amd six colors)

(not all large-scale seating indicates such a serious commitment to the art of the snuggle. francesco binfaré's corbeille sofa is a nest of cowhide-covered cushions packed into a matching zigzag stainless-steel frame. waiting for you at edra)
