riverhouse ~ green residential building in nyc

there's a new way to live in nyc, in luxury, in health and in good conscience. it's called riverhouse.
exterior architects, polshek partnership architects (known for the clinton library & museum in little rock & the rose center for earth & space at ny's american museum for natural history) teamed up with ismael leyva architects (space planning & interior architecture) and rockwell group (interior design firm who did ny's nobu restaurants, and are headed by interior design hall of famer david rockwell). this impressive team designed a building that is not only voguishly decked with high-end finishes, state of the art appliances & ultra stylish urban living ~ it's also going for a gold leed certification!
the list of green aspects in the development is impressive: recycling wastewater for cooling the tower and irrigating the green roof spaces; photovoltaic cells mounted on the roof to produce solar energy that will be used toward public utilities; and double-pane glass windows with low-emission coating to help prevent heat gain and loss. energy star appliances and toto dual-flush toilets will also contribute to the eco-friendly factor. construction of the building is leed impressive also: some 20 percent of the building is to be constructed from recycled materials, and over 80 percent of construction waste will be recyclable. not to mention, over 40 percent of the building materials will be acquired locally to reduce fuel consumption during shipping.
as can be seen by these renderings, the look and feel will be light & airy, chic and contemporary:
