perfectly puzzled

(puzzle-shaped wall tiles were presented at the design academy eindhoven masters graduation show last year at the droog gallery)

(like many of pollack's designs, "puzzle box" is all about precision execution. single- and double-cloth poly-silk stripes create patterns of overlapping rectangles beneath a cotton-woven design of undulating stripes. the puckered texture of the background adds dimension and sophistication)

(brigg's engineered wood products has created the puzzle floor - with tons of species and finishes to choose from. they show it in many "serious settings" but i think it would look best in a child's room, a daycare center or an ecclectic loft apartment)

(daddy types introduced me to this tetris-for-kids modular block concept. the blocks are soft, vibrant, versatile, and i'm sure any kid (or group of kids) would love playing with them. heck ~ i would love playing with them! developed by maurizio fontanilli in collaboration with reggio children)

(the dutch design partnership of bert&dennis has brought many fantastic results. puzzled (above) is a modular seating system, simply add pieces to grow your sofa)

irish pubs crawl

to celebrate st.patrick's day (& my irish heritage) i'm posting some incredible irish pubs designed by the irish pub company (a division of mcnally design group). established in 1991, they specialize in the design, manufacture and installation of authentic irish pubs all over the world. pulling from traditional brewery design, gaelic style, victorian dublin style, and country cottage pub design they offer well-developed ways of recreating irish pubs intended to be successful culturally and commercially, anywhere in the world.

conscious design

new zealand based conscious design elevates furniture design to a new level by using selectively logged pine from managed forests, interchangeable upholstery covers for longer life cycles, and water-based adhesives. the tio chair seen here is a lovely example of their work.

freckle me fabulous

for two reasons i'm blogging about freckles today.
1. mine are popping-out in blissful gratitude for all this sunny warmth we've been experiencing in sf
2. lately the design blog community is swooning over companies & designers with freckle-themes, and seeing as how i'm a freckled femme too, i want to join in the celebration

(a pretty freckled lady named jenny is living the design diva dream ~ putting her stylish creative skills into everything from home accessories to shoes on her online shop: freckle wonder. and she has a fun blog too, of the same name)

(uk-based freckle designs, headed by designer leanne rostron, specializes in ceramic design & production and design consultancy. darling patterns on the highest quality materials for adults & children. plus i just love their gift bags!)

(tania lambert is the face behind the freckles of a uk-based online card shop: freckle-face design offers 7 different card lines with many adorable, upligting, slightly-retro-feel designs in each. i want them all!)

also, more freckled fun ~ knitting, design, witt & good advice come from these two freckle-faced bloggers:

sitting with summer's likeness

it hit 80 degrees in many areas around the bay over the weekend. talk about gushing with spring fever ~ i just love this weather so much! yesterday i got to have a picnic at a pool party in a gorgeous mill valley garden with 3 of my best friends. that had my heart glowing in warmth just as much as the sun did for my body. here is some well designed outdoor furniture to keep the summer inspiration going a bit longer.
