zest of zinc

zinc is an under-rated but ultra fabulous material. i love working with it ~ it adds softness and old world charm to even the most contemporary design situations. plus it's durable and patinas gorgeously. so this post is dedicated to some of my favorite zinc products.....
(cj designs is a nice custom countertop manufacturer in oklahoma. a couple examples of their work show what potential there is for zinc in the counterop application ~ with integral sinks & backsplashes, or without. seriously wonderful work)

(twist home is selling this lovely tooled zinc top table which can be customized to any size)

(atelier zinc offers tons of beautiful products in zinc. and their website is wroth exploring)

(c.quoi’s grand ecart above is a modular divider/ garden partition and vase made of zinc. flowers, herbs, vegetables, and fruits can be planted in the top portion. integrated water tubes allow for low maintenance)

primavera projects

if i had today off i would be doing some spring-easter-crafty projects, but instead i'm working very hard to get a big design drawing set finished and turned in before end of day, so no fun crafty time for me. however, i thought i'd share what i would do if i had the time, in case you're so inclined to pull out the sewing machine, potting soil, or eggs.....
(one of my fave crafters is molly chicken ~ she makes adorable creative things that always delight me. she so kindly posted a how-to tutorial for this darling easter birdy mama & baby ~ check it out right here!)

(did you know how easy it is to grow wheat grass? it's so fresh & vibrant ~ perfect spring decor! design mom describes the simple know-hows here)

(how gorgeous are these eggs?!? and much to my delight they're quite easy to do. craftser.org tells all here. if you try these, please let me know how they turn out!)

(last but not least ~ a fun swap is happenning over on marta's blog....but hurry today is the last day to sign up!)

wisdom at wis design

whenever i learn of female designers embarking out on their own entrepreneurial dreams i perk up & pay attention. it's so inspiring! the beauty swedish design duo, lisa widén and anna irinarchos, went to school together & then openeded their own design studio. wis design offers fresh contemporary design in several mediums: furniture, product, interior and graphic. seriously talented!
