true nature

what happens when you come across a beautiful redhead who's a talented artist, excellent photographer, deep thinker & world traveler? you tell your friends on your blog with glee, that's what! jenny of true nature blog (based in buenos aires) has captivated me. i'm sure she'll do the same for you. . . . . look at these samples from her blog to see what i mean:
(lovely photo of seafoam clouds & golden umbrellas)

(i heart tango and this is a painting i'm trying to buy from her. yes she painted it!)

(colored pencils & jewelry parts in her studio. she also happens to make beautiful jewelry too)

and here's to the crazy ones (many happen to be my heroes):

(albert einstein, bob dylan, martin luther king, jr., richard branson, john lennon, r. buckminster fuller, thomas edison, muhammad ali, ted turner, maria callas, mahatma gandhi, amelia earhart, alfred hitchcock, martha graham, jim henson, frank lloyd wright and picasso)

color of silence

for notte bianca in rome, giancarlo neri created a light installation called massimo silenzio (maximum silence). comprised of 1000's of round glowing orbs placed all over the ground, it most certainly hushed the crowds. i'm sorry to report it was only open from sept 7-11th; the experience of walking amongst it must have been quite incredible. to get a glimpse for yourself, please jump over to this bubbleshare site.

eye candy from rebecca thuss

if you don't know who she is, you'll certainly recognize her work ~ rebecca thuss is the master mind behind much of martha stewart omnimedia's publishing on weddings & events for the past 10 years. now she's moved on to work with her hubby in a new graphic design & photography firm, thussfarrell. but no matter ~ the legacy of her incredible creativity, style, ingenuity, and panache will be replicated & inspirational for a long long time. for a friday treat, feast your eyes on a few of my faves. (and if you're craving more, there are many more sweet visions on her website)

falling water built in animation

cristobal vila has created an online spectacular: see the inner & outer details of frank lloyd wright's masterpiece falling water, from the ground up, with the wonders of online computer animation. having never been fortunate enough to see falling water with my own two eyes, i am so thrilled to get this upclose tour created by vila's studios, eterea. my only complaint is the "camera" goes too quickly when my eyes want to rest on certain details as the view goes zooming by. but it's still amazing and definitely worth a viewing (or 2).

get warped

send the warp your room people an exact plan for your walls, showing where your doors, windows, pictures, and electrical outlets are, and they'll generate a custom wallpaper for you that "warps" the pattern around everything that protrudes through the paper.

villa ludovica, latest obsession

it's friday, so let's take a long visit to my favorite tuscan villa, the villa ludovica. this lovely house is located in one of the most wonderful hilly places of a region called lucchesia. it was once an ancient convent whose origins date back to the xvii century. the house is placed in a unique position with a magnificent view over the town of lucca.
i have lived in italy, i have visited several times, i speak the language, and there isn't much about the culture i don't adore. so i suppose it's no surprise i'm obsessed with this villa. forget "under the tuscan sun" (i couldn't even finish that cliche-ridden tome), i'm ready to just escape to my own reality filled version of living in tuscany. ok, so this villa isn't in my reality yet either. you caught me! but it's friday and i'm feeling full of big dreams. let's just stroll on over there, shall we.......

sometime this weekend, i hope you can take a moment to close your eyes & imagine the place you'd most like to go in the world if money & time were no issue. feel yourself there & make it a reality in your mind's eye. go ahead, rest your mind there for a while. you deserve it!

have a fabulous get-away-wonderland weekend!

cartier love day

this is the man you want to see at your front door..... he’s cute, he’s hard working, and best of all ~ he’s from cartier!
cartier pages have been waltzing all over san francisco hand delivering invites to the boutique’s private opening night party on september 6th to celebrate their big new store on post street.
btw, the event is designed by stanlee gatti so you know there's going to be an abundance of opulence. here are some examples of a few of his previous events:

("one an earth installation" with mr.gatti himself at the conservatory of flowers in golden gate park)

and to top it off, our fabulous mayor, who will be at the opening cartier event, has declared september 6, 2007 as “cartier love day” in san francisco!
are you feeling the love yet? i know i am!
